With a newly released single for a launching pad, Vagabond Band is back and ready to revive the live music scene of a post-Covid Austin. The band kept busy during 2019, performing nearly a hundred privately booked events and were on track to surpass that total prior to the industry shutdown. Rather than be defeated by the social handcuffs of the virus, the band used quarantine to perfect their craft, refining and broadening their cover list and compiling an extensive catalogue of original music, in tune with their established reputation as a high-energy, interactive ensemble.
Inspired by the lyrical prowess of artists like Avette Brothers, Phoebe Bridgers, Willy Nelson, and the musicianship of Brothers Osborne, Little Feat and others, Vagabond Band is on a mission to revive live music with a mix of sounds they hope will become the pride of Texas.
Their debut single, “Virginia” (the first of many releases to come in the next several months) is an ode to the seasons of the Old Dominion. Band founder Marshall Moon wrote the song about his early twenties and time spent touring the East coast from Texas to NYC. It proves itself as a heartfelt number that will resonate with listeners that have felt the distance and trial of a long journey separating them from home. It evokes themes of dreaming for lost lands and longed-for loves.
As the new year approaches, Vagabond Band is determined to bring live music back to the party. Whether belting out wholesome covers that fans can sing along to or bringing the heat with new original music, this down-home Texas band promises to be the entertainment that guests won’t soon forget.
